Christmas Shoot 2011 - Final Round

Sunday was the final round of the Christmas Shoot. I think all will agree it was a great competition and well organised. Congratulations to all winners especially Paul O'Neill on winning Overall High Gun. Sundays winner was Gerry "The Sandbag" Kirk as he managed to win again, but this time he was allowed to keep his prize. Definite "AA" material me thinks. On behalf of everyone in the club I would like thank our sponsors for providing all the prizes as nobody was left out. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. Today was the second round of the Christmas Shoot and once again the weather Gods were smiling on us. The glare and low Sun angle made the shooting difficult. Congratulations to Jimmy with the top score of 42.

Christmas Shoot 2011 - 1st Round

Last Sunday was the first round of the clubs Christmas shoot. There will be a total of four shoots to run over the next four weeks. As this is a friendly competition nearly everybody is guaranteed a prize with all prizes being sponsored. The shoot had a great turn out probably helped by the unseasonable good weather. Team League 2011 - 8th & Final round - 16th October

Last Sunday was the final of the club's first Team League. The general consensus was that it was a great success and the feed back is that it has helped many people with their shooting. The competition was very tight with only a few points separating the top teams. Congratulations to the "Dropping Ducks", Dennis Duggan, Paul O'Neill and John Mulligan (but the "Loopers" will rise again). To see the final scores follow the link.

Information about the New Team League

The new league starts this Thursday evening and for as many Thursday evenings as the light will allow, if needs be we will finish it off on Sunday mornings. The format will be a team of 3 ( A+B+C shooter ) not everyone can make it every week so your individual best 6 scores out of 8 will count. At the end of the league your teams overall score will consist of each individuals best 6, so the total team score will be the combination of 18 scores. It would be a big help to your team mates if you can make it most weeks and an advantage to your opponents if you don’t. Hope this makes sense and the best of luck to everyone.

Ardee 100 bird registered shoot - 17th July

Yesterday saw the first 100 bird registered shoot that Ardee have held for almost two years. Despite the wintry conditions 71 guns turned up on the day. Strong winds turned what was a challenging course into a difficult course, but I think everyone was in agreement that it was fair. The Club would like to thank Rathe House for the use of their superb grounds. The natural surroundings really added to the quality of the shoot. The Club would also like to thank all those that helped out on the day and on the set-up of the course especially John Mulligan, Dennis Duggan and Conor Duggan. Without Dennis' superb organisational skills we would not have held the shoot. We would also like to congratulate all those who won in their class on the day and especially Patrick Cole who had a high gun of 79. A selection of photos and scores are available below.

Ardee 100 bird registered shoot - 17th July

Our Registered Sporting shoot scheduled for 17th July next will take place at Rathe House, located 5km north of Nobber in Co Meath on the Kingscourt road. The sat-nav co-ordinates for the grounds is N 53 51.299 W 6 46.834 and the start time will be 10am. This shoot is the re-scheduled Irish Sporting Grand Prix.

Hard to believe but the Leinster League is over for another year. The Club Committee would like to thank all those that participated throughout the competition and helped us to a joined 7th win with Hempstown. We also had three members that had class wins. John O'Neill, 1st in class C. David Finnegan, 1st in class D. Noreen Walsh, 3rd in the Ladies. High gun winners in the Club were 1st high gun Paul Delaney and 2nd high gun John Muilligan. Leinster League 2011 - Ardee

Yesterday saw the Ardee round of the Leinster League. Unfortunately this had to take place not on our own grounds but at Delvin Banks shooting grounds. This was due to unforseen circumstances. The day went of very well partly due to the good weather but mainly due to a very well organised shoot. The club committee would like to thank all those that helped set up the course on Saturday and to all those who helped out on Sunday during the shoot. Ahead of our Leinster League shoot on Saturday 2nd April 2011 find attached a map showing the location of Batterstown CPC’s grounds. We are quite easy to get to, being less than 5 minutes from Exit 6 off the new M3 motorway. We will also have directional signage in place in the vicinity of the grounds on the day; to help you navigate and reassure you your heading in the right direction ! Sat Nav coordinates and directions are also available from the Leinster League website.
I would appreciate if you would circulate the attached map to any of your members travelling on Saturday the 2nd April.

Leinster League 2011 - Dodder

Well here we go again, it doesn't seem like that long ago since the last League started. And what a wet, damp and windy start it was, but despite the rain the shoot ran very smoothly. Lets hope that they all go as smoothly as that, but a bit drier and definitely with less wind. Next weeks' shoot is Mill Hill and start times will be posted on the forum later this week. The scores from this week are posted below and could everybody please check their scores carefully as we have already noticed some mistakes. First Round of the 2010 Winter League - 3rd October

The first round of the 2010 Winter League took place on the 3rd October with 20 guns turning up. Most classifications were carried over from the end of the Summer League. As usual there will be 8 shoots to the Winter League but unlike previous years they are not consecutive weeks. This is to allow for people to travel to the CSI shoots. Its hard to beleive but last Thursday was the 5th round of our first summer league on our own grounds. From next week anybody that has completed five shoots will start to eliminate their worst scores and this will really shake things up. This weeks scores are attached below.

The better weather lead to an improved turnout this week with 20 guns taking part. Already the competition is heating up with several people in contention for high gun. Some people expressed concern that they might have been wrongly classified. I would like to assure everybody that they are in their correct classes. This weeks scores are attached below.

Safety Notice - Operation of Traps
We would like to bring to the attention of all members that the safe operation of clay-pigeon traps is that they are disarmed before ANY WORK can be carried out on them. This means moving and especially re-loading. We cannot stress enough how IMPORTANT this is. At the next round of the summer league we intend to give a safety demonstration on the safe operation of the traps. We have also attached a link to the Promatic Trap Owners Manual and would ask all members to take a few minutes to read this. SAFETY IS EVERYONES RESPONSIBILITY.

Summer League - 20th May

The third round of the summer league saw 16 guns turning up for another round of some very interesting targets. Having our own facilities has really given us the ability to setup whatever we like. This weeks scores are attached below. I would also like to mention that John Mulligan scored a 50 straight this week and thats good shooting in anybody's book. It doesn't leave much room for the rest of us, well done John.

Summer League - 13th May

The second round of the summer league turned into a bit of a damp affair with the monsoon season hitting the Ardee Road. Despite this fact 16 guns braved the weather. This weeks scores are attached below. All should notice a difference to the ground this week with a lot of work being carried out at the weekend. The enterance has been tidied up and a new bridge into the second half of the field.

Once again we have reached another Leinster League Final. Those 10 weeks just flew by. I think everyone will agree it was a very successful competition. On behalf of the Ardee Shooting Club I would like to congratulate the Leinster League organizing Committee for the smooth running of the competition. Congratulations to all club and class winners. Sunday was the third round of the league. Fortunately the day stayed dry as there was a long delay on getting squads through. We had a good turn out again for Ardee with 22 guns and a total of 244 overall. Please note next Sundays Bray shoot will now take place at Mill Hill grounds. Ardee start time 10.45am.
An additional €500 worth of prizes for Junior shooters at the 2010 Leinster Sporting League will be on offer thanks to the generous sponsorship of Silverline Catering.
Mill Hill CPSC will run a 30 Bird Super Sporting in conjunction with the Bray Leinster League shoot being held at the venue next Sunday. Entry will cost €10 and is open to all participants AFTER they have completed ther round .

Last Sunday saw another large turnout for the league with 240 guns taking part in what proved to be a very well laid out course. Once again Ardee had a good turnout with 24 guns. Leinster League 2010 - Ardee 31-01-10

Sunday saw the start of the 2010 Leinster League and despite the last minute change of venue I think all would agree it was a great success. 206 guns braved the wintry conditions. The club committee would like to thank all those who helped out on the day and especially the staff of Loughmourne Shooting Grounds. Their professional organisation helped to make the day run smoothly. The canteen also received a lot of praise throughout the day and we would like to thank the canteen staff for keeping us fed and watered! The venue of the Club AGM has now been changed to the Mattock Rangers Pavilion School Lane Collon at 8pm Wednesday 20th. All members are urged to attend as there are some major issues that need to be discussed.

Last Sunday saw the final round of the Winter Sport Trap League. Despite some very bad weather over the course of the 8 weeks, it was still a very successful competition. The Weather Gods were out on Sunday with a break in the storms. This made for a good turnout and has also meant that I can now classify everybody that has completed three or more shoots. Sunday's shoot was the third in the league and it is normally after this that I would arrange people into their different classes, but only 5 people so far have completed 3 rounds of the league and this makes it difficult to set the cut off points. Winter League 25-10-09

Last Sunday saw the first of the Winter League Sport Trap shoots. The overall view of those who took part is that it is very enjoyable shooting and very different from the normal sporting shoots. It is hoped that next weeks' shoot will consist of two 25 bird layouts and this should hopefully speed up the time taken to compete. By majority vote it has been decided that High Gun in the competition will be a "true" High Gun score i.e. no handicap. Attached below are this weeks' scores.

Club Forum Site

The Club has decided to setup a forum site which will provide all members and other interested parties to communicate with the Club Committee and each other. It can be used as a way to provide information to other members and ask questions of other members. It is a chat facility that can be used to post photographs and links, trade equipment and communicate information on places to shoot. Those's wishing to use the site need only to follow the link on the site of the page and register on the site. New topics can be posted under the different headings.

Winter League

The Club intends to hold a winter league shoot starting on the 25th October and running for 8 weeks. This will be based on the new sport trap discipline. The competition will be run similar to the summer league. Each round will be a 50 bird and handicaps will apply. The shoots will be held each Sunday from 11am to 1 pm. Entry fee will be 18euro and there will be prices in each of the classes.
Party Night 21-08-09

Once again the club held its annual BBQ and prize giving night. All the winners from the Summer Leagues received their prizes. Also on the night the award for Clubman of the year and the High Performance award were handed out. This year saw Dennis Duggan win both prizes. The committee would like to congratulate Dennis on this achievement and all the other members who won prizes on the night.
The BBQ organising committee have expressed great disappointment in the number of club members that attended the event, just less than a third of the club members attended. The committee feel that this was a major missed opportunity for all members to meet and socialise after what was the clubs most successful year. The poor turn-out has cast doubt over whether the event will take place next year. For all those that did attend a selection of photographs are available on our photograph page.

The 21st of August will see the Club hold its annual BBQ and Prize giving night. I think you will all agree we have a lot to celebrate this year with our fantastic win in the Leinster League. The BBQ will be held on the club grounds starting at 8pm. Tickets can be bought from Tommy McQuillan 086 2622873, costing a very reasonable 20 Euro each. Tickets are on sale now and must be purchased before Thursday 20th August. There will be a bar and music on the night. All are welcome, both Club members and non-Club members. |

The second summer league started last Thursday. By the request of the members the competition has reverted back to the 4 categories "A,B,C,D" with the same handicaps as before. Leinster League - Final Round Courtlough

As you are all aware Ardee is now the 2009 Leinster League Champions and once again we finished on a high by winning the final shoot in Courtlough. Congratulations to all who won prizes and especially to all our "D" shooter who had a clean sweep in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in this category. The celebrations went on into the wee hours of the morning with a repeat performance scheduled for Darver Castle on Friday night. Attached you will find a spreadsheet of the final scores and four albums of photographs.

The final round of the 2009 Leinster League takes place this Sunday 3rd May at Courtlough. It is hoped that all members can turn up for the shoot at the allotted time and then come back up later in the evening for the prize giving.
1st Round of Summer League

The first round of our Summer League will take place on the grounds on Thursday 30th April from 5pm onwards. The League will run the same as last year with the exception of the classifications. This time we are only running with three classifications A, B & C. As with previous years all are unclassified until they have completed three shoots. Best of Luck and hope to see you all there.
St Luke's Charity Shoot

The club charity shoot in aid The Friends of St. Luke's took place on the 19th April. The club would like to thank all those that participated on the day and a special thanks to all those who donated prizes. We would also like to thank all sponsors and especially Ardee Shooting Ground. There was a great turnout helped by the fine weather, with in excess of 2,500 euro being raised. We have since received a letter of thanks from The Friends of St. Luke's Hospital which I have attached at the bottom.

The preliminary results for Duleek are now in with a win for Ardee. This gives us a lead of 15 points, meaning that if the scores stand, Ardee are the 2009 Lenister League Winners. The Committee would like to congratulate all our Club Members for their commitment throughout the competitions. It is through your dedication that we find Ourselves entering the final round of the League in Courtlough as the overall winners. Ardee Summer League

The year is rolling on and once again it is almost time for our Summer League Shoots to start. The first shoot starts on the 30th of April and will run every Thursday for 8 weeks. The second 8 week shoot will start on the 2nd June. For those not familiar with the format it will be eight 50 bird shoots with your best five scores determining your overall result. There will be 4 categories "A" "B" "C" D" with a different handicap in each category. There will be prizes in each category and an overall high gun winner. A full list of rules will be posted closer to the first shoot.

Sunday last saw the start of the 2009 Leinster League at Ardee. Despite the economic doom and gloom 220 shooters braved the Artic weather conditions to take part in the 1st round of the league. The targets proved to be very interesting due to the high gusts of wind. The Club Committee would like to thank all those who helped out on the day and over the last couple of weeks in preperation. Once again it's Leinster League time. A full list of all dates and venues can be found on our competition page. Entry will remain at
€15 as per last year. Ardee Shooting Club will host the first round of League on the 1st of February. I remind all Club members that intend to shoot the League must be fully paid up with the ICPSA.

The Club intends to hold it's annual Christmas shoot on the 27th of December. Shooters will be classified under their Summers league classifications. There will be vouchers for 1st place in each category and cash prizes for 2nd and 3rd. Entries between 10-12am.

2008 Prize Giving Party Night.

Friday the 24th saw the Club hold it's annual Prize giving and Party Night in "Muldoon's" of Ardee. A full list of prize winner is available on our competition page. Photographs of all prize winners are now posted on our photographic page. Club person of the year went to Thomas Lennon. Also this year under the supervision of Nigel Dowdall a new award was introduced. The High Performance Award is awarded to the individual who has achieved the most throughout the year. This years winner was David O Connor.

Club Party Night

As I sure you are all aware by now our Club Party Night had to be re-sheduled and due to the very unfavourable weather it was decided by Club majority vote that the night should still go ahead. The Party Night will now be held on the 24th October in "Brian Muldoon's" of Ardee at 8.00pm. Prizes for the Summer Leagues will be handed out on the night. The shoot off for 3rd place in "B" class and 2nd & 3rd place in "C" class was held today. The 3rd place in "B" went to the Doc. 2nd place in "C" went to Thomas Woods, with 3rd place going to Peter Byrne.

Final Shoot of the First Summer League

Today was the final of the Club's first Summer League. Congratulations to all class winner and to Andrew Treacy on his High Gun Win. A number of shootoffs will need to be held next Thursday to determine 3rd place between the Doc and Jake in B Class. A shoot off is also required between Peter Byrne and Thomas ("Bullseye")Woods for 2nd & 3rd place in C Class.
The second Summer League will start on July 3rd and a revised classification will be posted on the site before then.

The Club would like to congratulate John O'Neill on winning the HiDefSpex Panther Shooting glasses valued at over 400 Euro. John was the March winner in the competition between the ICPSA and Clayshooters. John was presented with his prize at the Carrickglen Shoot by Peter Meade from Clayshooters.
